Swine flu made me skinny – Spelling

US TV star Tori Spelling hit back at reports she is anorexic, saying she is skinny from battling swine flu, migraines and nerve problems, reports said.

In her new book, “Uncharted TerriTORI,” Spelling said she was hospitalized three times this year, the New York Daily News reported.

“I’ve never had a great stomach, but (being ill) just completely tore up my stomach and broke down my immune system, and I’ve basically just been a mess ever since, stomach-wise,” she wrote. “It’s about rebuilding my immune system.”

Spelling, 37, said she was worried bad press about her weight would send a negative message about body image to her female fans.

“I’m a role model for a lot of women out there, so I hate that they (the media) say these things unwarranted, without any research and facts,” she wrote. “I think it’s doing a disservice to women out there that look up to any celebrity.”

The star, best known for playing Donna Martin in Beverly Hills, 90210, also said she was concerned it would affect her two-year-old daughter Stella.

“I’m so grateful that she can’t read yet,” Spelling wrote. “I’m hoping they’ll let up on that by the time she gets old enough to understand, but I’m going to have to explain to her that this is what happens.”

Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott, who starred in their own reality TV show about their married life, are also parents to three-year-old son Liam.
