I hope the Swiss are happy with themselves, they have allowed a man who plead guilty to having sex with a minor to get away with his crime.
If an American should commit such a crime in Switzerland, I hope the Swiss will not have the audacity to want the US to extradite that person to Switzerland to stand trial, given the fact that they allowed Polanski to get away with this crime.
Irrespective of the fact that the crime may have been committed in 1977, is no reason why he should not pay for the deed that he did,, he should no better than to have sex with a child and if he does it once and get away with it, then there is no reason to stop him doing the same thing again.
How would the Swiss like it if it was one of their national that was violated at that age? Would they be so keen to see that person go free.
The mere fact that Polanski fled the US on the eve of his sentencing, should make anyone with a ounce of sense, realise that he knew that what he did was deplorable and that would be the only reason for him fleeing justice.
I do not always agree with the US in terms of extradition, but this time I do believe they had a very good cause to be concern that Polanski could once again commit another of these child abuse crime. For the Swiss to ignore the evidence presented to them and to free Polanski is a travesty of justice.
The message that the Swiss is sending to potential pervert around the world is that they can commit these heinous crime and flee to Switzerland and they will not be extradited, this is a very dangerous precedent for the Swiss authority to be setting. They could end up with a great deal of undesirables in their country and it will be the citizen who will eventually suffer for this grave mistake, that they have make with regard to Polanski.
I could understand it Polanski did not plead guilty, and if the US still had to prove that he had done the crime, but he pleaded guilty, so therefore, there was no doubt about what he had done. He may be 76 years old, but that should not have been any reason for him not to pay for the crime he committed.
To say I am very disappointed with the Swiss, is putting it mildly, I would have thought they would be eager to get rid of a person who has the gall, to sexual assault a child of 13 years. Obviously, they did not see anything wrong with that. This decision, that they make, could one day come back to haunt them in more ways than they could ever believe.
The French and Polish supporters of Polanski are no better themselves they are elated that the Swiss has freed him, but they seems to forget that a 13 year old was drugged and raped. His wife may think the ‘nightmare’ is over, but for however long he live, he will not be remembered for the films that he made, he will be remembered for the man who raped a 13 year old and got away with it, and if I was his wife, I would rather that, that label was not hanging over my family’s head.
How dare she talks about have a ‘normal life’ with her children, she seems to forget the father of her children is a rapist, who ply a 13 year old with champagne and then proceed to rape, her despite her protest. I would not be talking about normal life. They should understand that we never ever get away with the bad things we do in life, some how we pay, and as the bible state “the sins of the parents, visit the third and fourth generation” so Polanski, may rejoice now, but who know what price he will eventual pay for his deeds
I hope the US continue to pursue, Polanski for as long as it takes until he his imprisoned for his crime.
VERY ANNOYED
