No wonder racism is still alive

By Sandrea:- MY GRIPE

A family of former asylum seekers getting £2,000 a week in housing benefit to live in a £2.1 million Kensington.

Now come on, no matter who you are that kind of headline and the subsequent report will make anyone furious and for those who do not like ‘black’ people this will fuel their hate even more.

Regardless of the circumstances surrounding this family case, I am sure that they could find housing facility that did not cost the taxpayers that ludicrous amount of money.

When the British public are faced with stories like these, it cause them to resent asylum seekers even more than they do.  I imagine that most people would agree that Britain has an obligation to help individuals and their families that have been persecuted in their own country.  However, this case has demonstrate that their is a fundamental flaw within the system which needs to be address.

These are so-called asylum seekers, and they have the unmitigated gall to say they do not like the £900, a month accommodation that they were in so they decide to move to a property that is worth £2.1 million.  I do not believe they have heard the term ‘beggars cannot be choosers’, this is ridiculous.

Do not get me wrong I believe that the Council has an obligation to house people who are in need of accommodation irrespective of whether they are asylum seekers are not, but they must understand that the British public will find this one hard to swallow.

There are many people in this country who have worked their asses off for many year and they cannot afford that kind of accommodation so you can imagine their frustration when they pick up the ‘Evening Standard’ and read the story about this family.

Whether individuals want to admit it or not this is yet another reason why racism is still alive and kicking, because I imagine a lot people, including ‘blacks’ must be extremely furious.

This family is now exposed to potential harrasment, from individuals who are angry with the Council decision to house them in that kind of accommodation

The Government is already looking for ways to cut certain benefits and this fiasco that have arisen will make it a dam sight easier for them to justify the cuts that they will make to various benefits and you can bet that ‘housing benefit’ will now be at the top of the list.

This is a quote from the report, “People round here are pretty angry: they work hard, they aspire to live in the greatest neighbourhoods in the world and the council puts them in for £2,000 a week, paying double the market value — someone did not do their due diligence. It is ridiculous, outrageous.”
