The story about the Irish couple, not knowing they were half brother and sister, who is having an intimate relationship that produced a child and are vowing to stay together is a very unfortunate situation.
However, these kind of relationship will become common-place as more and more men fathered children with various women and these children are been raised not knowing their other half siblings. This however, should not have been the case of this couple as the father did try to see his son, he when as far as pursing it legally. But, the Judge and the psychologist decided that it was not in the best interest of the child to see his natural father and that ill-fated decision so many years ago has now caused this couple to be in the predicament they find themselves in.
I can imagine that a great many people are going to read this story and find it difficult to understand why this couple can stay together in a sexual relationship knowing that they are half brother and sister. The public will find it very hard to comprehend. However, before we become judge jury and executioner, we must understand that we are talking about peoples emotions here and this is not a tap that you can turn on and off.
Least, we forget the heart-rending aspect of this relationship is that there is a child involved. If this couple pursue civil proceeding against the Judge and the Psychologist then they will forfeit their anonymity and the whole world will know who they are and there child will have to grow up into an intolerant world stigmatised by the unfortunate actions of their parents.
Although, this is a very hard decision for this couple, I hope they think carefully about bring other children into this unfortunate situation. I hope they can find the courage to leave the relationship and pursue other partners.
