British gorilla expert murdered by intruder at home in Cameroon

A BRITISH gorilla expert was murdered at her home in Cameroon after confronting an armed intruder, London’s Daily Telegraph reports.

Ymke Warren, 40, was found bleeding to death by her boyfriend, fellow British primatologist Aaron Nicholas, on Tuesday morning.

Her throat was slit after she was bound and gagged by her attacker at the house in the coastal town of Limbe.

She was taken to the hospital but did not survive.

It is believed her attacker hid himself in the couple’s attic Monday evening.

“We would all like to think that this is a robbery gone wrong, but we don’t know,” British neighbor Dr. Bethan Morgan said.

The couple worked on the Takamanda-Mone Landscape Project, run by the American Wildlife Conservation Society.

They were studying Cross River gorillas, one of west Africa’s most threatened primate populations.
