A Sheepshead Bay woman and her 8-year-old daughter were found dead in the bathtub of their home early yesterday, police said.
There were no signs of trauma on the nude bodies of Shakeema Elliot, 29, and Kaliya Williams, authorities said.
Pill bottles were scattered nearby, and the tub was partially filled with water.
Neighbors in the Nostrand Houses said that Elliot had been having problems with her boyfriend but that she had seemed to be in a good mood recently.
“I just saw her yesterday,” said Tobias Stewart. “She was in high spirits, talking about doing her laundry and that she was going home to cook her daughter something to eat.
“I can’t believe this happened to her.”
Police said they received a 911 call from a neighbor who had noticed that Elliot’s apartment door had been left open.
Responding officers made the shocking discovery.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
