The Conservatives policy to make individuals coming to the UK pass English test, especially for spouses and unmarried people, should come as no surprise to anyone.
Immigration control was always going to be the focus of this coalition government, more so for the Conservatives. However, this just reeked of hypocrisy because when the same proposal was raised by David Blunkett, he did not get any backing for it and therefore it was put on the back burner, so for Theresa May to now put it back int the public eye, is some of the reasons why I find it difficult to trust politicians.
This policy is going to hit the countries that English is not their first language, and that is really one way of controlling immigrants to this country.
As Theresa May said that she believe that being able to speak English should be a pre-requisite for any who wants to live in the UK, will she also agree that any British that want to live in say France, Germany, Italy, Spain, wherever, English is not a first language, that British should learn the language of those countries and that before they go to reside in that country they should pass a French, German, Italian or Spanish test.
Theresa May should also be aware that it is not only the UK that it is privilege to come, it could also be argue that it is a privilege to go to the US, Canada, Japan, wherever.
There is a genuine concern regarding immigrations and I do believe that Government must find methods to control the influx of immigrants into their country, but please do not use words, like privilege, is sound so condescending, and we certainly do not want that.
I am equally sure that the greater majority of immigrants residing in this country are well are of how luck they are, and they certainly do not want to be reminded by politicians.
The Government have now shown what they are going to do in terms of immigrations, we now wait with bated breath for the next rounds of what else is going to come.
