Lindsay Lohan may be self-harming in prison

LOS Angeles prison wardens are keeping a close watch on Lindsay Lohan amid concerns the star has been self-harming.

Officials at California’s Lynwood prison said they were worried about a number of scratches on Lohan’s arms and are monitoring her 24 hours a day,  The Daily Mirror reported.

A source said: “They are suitably worried by the marks to confiscate her prison-issue toiletries. They are not taking any chances whatsoever, as she’s quite vulnerable. They are not sure if the marks are fresh or from her time spent at the centre before, but they certainly look suspicious.”

The 24-year-old actress entered the Century Regional Detention Facility on Tuesday to begin serving her sentence for violating her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case in 2007.

Lohan’s mother, Dina, and her sister, Ali, visited the star in the prison Wednesday. The next day, her ex-girlfriend Sam Ronson came to see her, TMZ reported.

DJ star Ronson has been supporting Lohan through her difficult time despite a previously strained relationship since their split in April 2009. Ronson told The Times in London that she loved Lohan but dating her was a “headache” because the paparazzi attention grew to be too much.

While Lohan has welcomed visits from Ronson and her family, she has banned her estranged father Michael Lohan from the prison, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The father of the Mean Girls actress – who was charged for allegedly attacking his fiancee, Kate Major and threatening to kill her – had said that he would visit his daughter every day she was in jail and would appeal her sentence.

Michael Lohan has been reaching out to his daughter in an effort to mend their troubled relationship, but she wants nothing to do with him.

LA County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said, “Inmates only see people they want to see. If a person doesn’t want to see an individual, they are denied access.”

Michael Lohan, 49, was officially charged in New York with second degree harassment after Major, 27, said she suffered “minor swelling on her lip” when he tossed her off a chair while she slept and then kicked her in the face.

Lindsay Lohan has previously slammed her father on Twitter saying that her mother has played the role of both parents “all her life”.

Lohan was sentenced to 90 days jail for violating her probation, but it is expected she will serve just 14 days due to prison overcrowding.

The Sun newspaper even suggested the star may serve just nine days.
