Kanye West to release longest ever video

The music video will last just seconds longer than the former title-holder, Michael Jackson’s Ghosts, which timed in at 39 minutes and 31 seconds. Pop Eater reported Wednesday.

West said the film-noir-style movie will be an “epic piece of art” based on the new song he debuted September 12 at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

The song’s story of a phoenix that falls to earth, is severely criticised and then burns herself to escape, is inspired by the entertainer’s own story.

“I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person,” the 33-year-old said in reference to his antics at the 2009 VMAs.

At that ceremony, West interrupted an acceptance speech by country crooner Taylor Swift for the Best Female Video award. He grabbed the microphone from the star and declared that Beyonce should have won the award because her video for Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) was “one of the best videos of all time”.

West later apologised for his actions via Twitter and reunited with Swift at the 2010 awards show.

“I want to win there hearts back so I can continue to bring my take on culture to the masses with a clean opinion. It starts with this… I’m sorry Taylor,” he said on Twitter.
