Is there no end to Jamaica violence

By Sandrea:- MY GRIPE

For weeks upon weeks the international community watched Jamaica go up in flames.  We have seen Curfew imposed, soldier and police patrolling the streets, Tivoli Gardens been invaded, we have seen the Christopher ‘Dudus’ Coke’ affair almost topped an elected government and yet just when we would have believe that the nation was on the path to repairing itself, another violent shooting which include an 11 year old boy.

When is the violence in this country going to abate?  When are these criminal elements going to put away their guns and stop killing innocent people.

I seriously think that the government needs to have a island wide curfew, this level of violence must be stopped and if it means that people has to have their movements monitored, then so be it.  It is really ridiculous now, and I am sure that most Jamaicans are fed up to the back teeth with the constant series of crime wave that is gripping the island.

After the fiasco of the ‘Dudus’ affair I though that the government would be taking a firm grip on the gang activities within the island and they should be aware that the gangs do not only exist in the Kingston area, but as it would seem all over the island.

These kind of headline in international press can not be good for the tourism industry, which have already taken a battering following the extradition saga, and the subsequent violence that erupted during that period.

The government of Jamaica needs to stop pussy-footing around and blanket the island in curfew for a period of time in order that they can root out and destroy these gangs that are causing so must mayhem and misery to an other-wise peaceful people.
