AN elderly man charged with sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl more than 10 years ago will remain in jail following his extradition to Sydney from Portugal.
Roderick William Robinson, 71, did not apply for bail, which was formally refused by a magistrate, when he appeared in Parramatta Bail Court today.
Mr Robinson has been charged with two counts of indecent assault with a person under the age of 10, a court spokeswoman said.
The alleged incidents happened in Sydney between October 14, 1998 and August 21, 1999.
Mr Robinson was arrested in Portugal on March 30 and landed at Sydney Airport at 5am (AEST) today, where he was met by detectives.
He will remain in custody until his next appearance at Liverpool Local Court on June 9.
