‘Bisexual’ murderer scans crime flicks on prison day out

A BRITISH woman jailed after she knifed her fiance then blamed a road rage driver for the crime was let out of jail for an eight-hour shopping spree.

Tracie Andrews, 41, was spotted strolling around stores in York, in northern England, buying clothes and treats, The Sun reported.

Andrews, who stabbed her former fiance 37 times and then claimed he was the victim of a road rage maniac, was able to wander around the shops with a friend buying clothes and even enjoyed a leisurely meal during the eight-hour jaunt.

She was reportedly being given days out to prepare for her full release next year, after serving just 15 years of a life sentence.

Wearing sunglasses and carrying a designer handbag, she strolled out of Askham Grange open prison at 9am on Saturday and lit up the first of many cigarettes as she waited for a bus to take her on a eight kilometre trip to downtown York.

Once there, Andrews met up for coffee with a brunette friend before heading off to do some shopping. She also wandered into the city’s market district, where she made a beeline for a discount DVD shop.

As she flicked through a selection of murder mysteries, her attention was particularly grabbed by The Lodger, a thriller about a detective hunting an unknown killer, and The Impulse, a movie about a psychopathic stalker.

After a brief browse in a clothing store, Andrews and her friend took a lunch break, where they were spied sitting in a dark corner and chatting intently for 40 minutes before Andrews ducked into a chemist and asked an assistant several questions about perfumes.

When it was time to head back to jail, Andrews said goodbye to her friend and hurried off to the coach stop.

Once back at the prison she sat outside by a duck pond for half an hour, playing with her mobile phone and smoking more cigarettes before strolling back into the 128-inmate jail.

Andrews stabbed her 25-year-old lover with a pocketknife in the back, face, neck and chest after they argued while driving back to their apartment in December 1996 – then claimed during a televised police press conference that she watched in horror as Lee Harvey was killed by a crazed “fat man with staring eyes” after a road rage incident.

But police found his blood inside the trunk of her car after she hid the knife there before throwing it away.

Lee Harvey’s daughter Danielle, who was five at the time of the murder, wrote to Andrews in prison last year demanding to know why she killed her dad. The killer is estranged from her own 18-year-old daughter Karla.

While in jail, Andrews changed her name to Tia Carter, had $8,770 of cosmetic surgery at taxpayer expense to alter her jawline and reportedly enjoyed a series of lesbian affairs.
