Traditional values versus Political correctness
By Sandrea:- My Opinion
Is society eroding traditional values for political correctness is the question that is being asked by many especially those that practice the Christian faith.
A news report has indicated that 58% of people mostly Christians will not vote for the Conservative party at the next election following their stance on gay marriage. Christians see marriages between gay couples as not just going against the principles of tradition but a sin.
The ‘Bible’ which is the Christian blueprint in which they live their lives give clear instruction about men lying with men. Leviticus 20 verse 13 “If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them”. This is recorded in what is termed the old testament when there were no redemption of sins.
I am not orchestrating that gay marriages is a sin or not, but according to even Christians the son of God , Jesus came about and died in order that we can be redeemed for our sins, and the new testament, in fact Romans 12 verse 18-19 “If possible, as much as lieth in you, live peacefully, with all men”. “Dearly beloved , avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord”. If we are to take those words in context the Lord is saying we have no rights to judge anyone’s lifestyle and we should love each other and if there is any judging to do then God will do it.
There is nothing wrong with traditional values, but society must understand that in an emerging world a number of traditions that were previously taken for granted are going to disappear. Whether gay marriages are right or wrong, whether society sees it as deplorable we must recognize that these are people, human beings that we are trying to destroy their way of life and I do not believe we have the rights to do so. It is our responsibility to love and respect each other in accordance with God’s wishes and whosoever is committing sin let’s leave that up to God to decide.
Discrimination is a Pandora box once opened you cannot close if and if society is allowed to discriminate again any group, irrespective of what they stand for we open the door for widespread discrimination against everything and everyone and that should be prevented at all cost, as it is counter productive, breeds hate and intolerance and society cannot and should not embark on that path
