Six killed in Colombian chopper robbery

BOGOTA, Colombia – Colombian officials say armed men have killed four police and two other people while robbing a cash shipment that had just arrived by helicopter.

Cauca region Gov. Guillermo Gonzalez says the civilian aircraft landed on Tuesday on a soccer field used as a landing pad in the city of Caloto to deliver the money.

After the helicopter was unloaded and took off, robbers opened fire from nearby underbrush.

Gonzalez says the gunfire killed the officers and an employee of state bank Banco Agrario who received the money.

Doctors said a 31-year-old woman passing by was also shot in the head. She died later at a hospital.

There were no arrests.

Banco Agrario spokeswoman Nora Solorzano did not know how much money the robbers took.
