There should be no surprise to the inhabitants of the world that climate changes are hurting the economy.

As reported in the media the president of the World Bank warned that global warming is a real risk to the planet and already affecting the world economy in unprecedented ways. He further added that “These are not just risks. They represent real consequences,” calling the lack of attention to the issue of finance ministers and central bank chiefs “a mistake”.

Because of our greed we are destroying the planet we are seeing more changes in our weather conditions than ever before.  There is more rainfall in areas that are traditionally tropical climate, excessive snow fall crippling our town and cities and we should heed the warning of the President of the World Bank.

It may have escaped human beings but our world is a moving object and as such anything that we do to cause massive changes to the environment will certainly have an adverse effect on the economy and when that happens we will find ourselves in a position where we are incapable of producing the amount of agricultural products that we need to survive and there are already famine in certain parts of the planet, just imagine that going global.

We need to reverse the trend, be more aware of what we are doing to our environment, take measures now to start reversing the damage that we have already done to the planet otherwise we may not live to regret it.

When one looks at the devastation to the planet and as the President of the World Bank stated that damages and losses from natural disasters have tripled over the last 30 years, is an indication of how much we have eroded our planet and Friday we had one wake up call and the onus is now on human beings to listen.
