No justification slapping a child in the face
It is unbelievable that an adult that should know better would stoop to slap a child in the face because he was crying.
It has been reported in the media that a man of 60 is facing charges for slapping a 19 month old child in the face. Not only, according to reports he hurled racial slurs at the child but he had the unmitigated gall of putting his hand on the child.
Travelling in a plane is hard enough on adult so one can only imagine how difficult it must be for a child that young and it must be extremely difficult, as a parent trying to settle your child and to have the added pressure of someone assaulting your child.
I know the difficulties that one experience when you travel will young children as I have had that experience of being on an aircraft with my children when they were very young and if someone assaulted my children because they chose to cry I am absolutely certain that my reaction would be very counterproductive.
As stated by the child’s mother the individual was drinking double vodkas during the flight and whether he was intoxicated or not is no justification for him to lay his hand on the child and I hope that he is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
Passengers must be made to understand that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated neither by the airline or other individuals and if they do not ensure that an example is set, who else will believe that they can do such a vile act to a child and get away with it.
He must be held accountable for his actions and he cannot justify it in anyway, not only was he racist but his attitude and behaviour must never be tolerated by society. This is the 21st Century and outlandish behaviour such as this one can never become the norm.
Parents should not even use this antiquated method of punishment to discipline their children much more to have a complete stranger dishing out this archaic Neanderthal behaviour is totally wrong.
