According to the Evening Standard David Cameron is accused of misusing the honour system in order to reward individuals that have left his government.

This news report should really not be alarming to any member of the general public, we are well aware of the manner in which the ‘old boy school’ works and further recognise that this has been going on for as long as anyone can remember.

Although we are fully aware of these practices it still leaves a bad taste in one mouth, knowing that these honours were created in order to reward individuals who made unselfish contributions to the human race, those that have gone above and beyond the call of duty.  To give them out like this to individuals who the public would deem a failure is disrespectful to the fundamentals of the honour.

There was a time when we expected individuals, especially those that have the so-called power to make changes to our lives, to act in a manner that befit their position.  However, in my opinion these days are long gone and some of the politicians that we have today leave a lot to be desired.

I am so disappointed by this so-called coalition that If I did not know better and know how much sacrifice was made in order to give me the right to vote I would not bother.

But I can only hope that the country sees these kind of actions as deplorable and come the general elections demonstrate to these people that we expect nothing more that decency, dignity and above all respect from our politicians and indeed the government as a whole.
